BAPTISM

Baptism is a powerful outward expression of an inward transformation. It is a public declaration that you’ve trusted Jesus for salvation and are choosing to follow Him with your life. Baptism symbolizes leaving behind your old way of life and being raised to new life in Christ – what the Apostle Paul describes as being “buried with Him in baptism, and raised to walk in newness of life” (Romans 6:4).

Baptism does not save us, only faith in Jesus brings salvation. But it is an act of obedience and celebration, modeled by Jesus Himself (Matthew 3:13-17) and commanded to His followers (Matthew 28:19-20). Through baptism, we joyfully identify with Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection.

Baptism is 1) an ordinance of the Lord 2) where believers publicly declare their faith in Christ 3) and demonstrate their union with Christ 4) through full immersion in water 5) in the name of the Triune God (the Father, the Son, & the Holy Spirit). 

Believer’s baptism is the step of being baptized after you have placed your faith in Jesus and committed to following Him. It’s a way of going public with what God has done in you, declaring that Jesus is your Savior and King. If you’ve trusted Jesus, baptism is the first step of obedience He invites you to take.

At Kingdom City Church, we practice what is referred to as "credo baptism". We believe baptism is a personal, public declaration of repentance and faith following a conscious decision to follow Jesus Christ. Because this requires an individual to understand the gospel, count the cost of surrender, and make a credible declaration of faith, we do not baptize infants or young children. We believe this is in alignment with New Testament practice.
